Mills River Park is a 48-acre community park with paved multi-use trails, picnic areas, playgrounds, athletic fields, and other amenities. The park is generally open from sunrise to sunset.
Tip from WDT: A dog park isn’t the right environment for every dog. If your dog is fearful, reactive, overwhelmed by other dogs, or still learning appropriate social skills, consider working on those skills before visiting an off-leash dog park.
Hendersonville Parks & Greenways
Hendersonville and the surrounding area offer numerous parks and walking opportunities where dogs can enjoy the outdoors with their owners.
Remember that dogs generally need to remain leashed in areas that aren’t designated as off-leash dog parks. Always check the rules for the specific park or trail before visiting.

A fenced dog park can be a fun place for the right dog, but off-leash play isn’t appropriate for every dog.

- Can disengage from play when asked
- Is comfortable in busy environments
- Has appropriate vaccination and parasite prevention
- Can handle other dogs approaching or playing nearby
